Metal Gear Games on Nintendo Switch

The Metal Gear games are some of the most popular and well-known video games out there. The series has been around for over 30 years, and its popularity has only grown in recent years. With the release of the Nintendo Switch, fans of the series finally have a chance to play the Metal Gear games on a handheld device.

The Metal Gear series started back in 1987 with the release of Metal Gear for the MSX2 computer system. The game was developed by Hideo Kojima, who would go on to create some of the most iconic video games of all time. The original Metal Gear was a stealth action game that put players in the role of Solid Snake, a soldier who had to infiltrate an enemy base and destroy a nuclear weapon.

The game was praised for its unique gameplay mechanics and ambitious story.

Nintendo Reveals Switch Black Friday Deals + BAD News For Metal Gear Solid

The Metal Gear Solid franchise is one of the most beloved in all of gaming, and fans were thrilled when it was announced that several entries in the series would be coming to Nintendo Switch. While the games have been available on other platforms for years, there’s something special about being able to play them on Nintendo’s hybrid console. The first two games in the series, Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, are both available on Switch.

These classic titles have been updated with new features specifically for the Switch release, including HD Rumble and Joy-Con controls. If you’re a fan of the series or just looking to get into it, these are must-plays. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is also available on Switch, and while it doesn’t have any fancy new features like its predecessors, it’s still an excellent game that shouldn’t be missed.

And last but not least, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker rounds out the collection. This game was originally released for PSP but has since been remastered for consoles, and it’s finally made its way to Switch. If you’re a fan of Metal Gear Solid or just looking for some great action-adventure games to play on your Switch, these four titles should definitely be at the top of your list.

Metal Gear Solid 5 Nintendo Switch

The Metal Gear Solid 5 Nintendo Switch release date is March 3rd, 2020. The game will be a digital-only release on the eShop, with a file size of 13.6 GB. It will cost $19.99 USD / £15.99 GBP / €19.99 EUR.

This marks the first time that a mainline Metal Gear Solid game has been released on a Nintendo platform, after previous spin-offs like Snake Eater 3D and Peace Walker HD Collection came to the 3DS and Wii U respectively. It’s also the first MGS game since 2008’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots not to be helmed by creator Hideo Kojima, who left Konami in 2015 (although he did provide some creative input). Instead, it was overseen by PlatinumGames co-founder Hideki Kamiya and director Kenji Saito, both of whom worked on 2016’s excellent Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance – although Kojima’s name still appears in the credits as ‘Executive Producer’.

Is There a Metal Gear Game on Switch?

No, there is not a Metal Gear game on the Nintendo Switch. The latest Metal Gear game is Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which was released in 2015 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. There have been no announcements regarding a port or sequel for the Switch.

Why is There No Metal Gear Games on Switch?

The answer to this question is two-fold. Firstly, the Switch doesn’t have the horsepower to run a game like Metal Gear Solid. The console simply isn’t as powerful as something like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Secondly, Konami, the company that owns the Metal Gear franchise, has been embroiled in controversy over the past few years. This has led to them cancelling several projects, including a new Metal Gear game that was in development for the Switch. As such, it’s unlikely that we’ll see any Metal Gear games on Nintendo’s console anytime soon.

What Metal Gear Games are on Nintendo Consoles?

There have been a number of Metal Gear games released on Nintendo consoles over the years. Here is a list of the main ones: Metal Gear ( NES)

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (MSX2) Snake’s Revenge (NES) – this is not considered part of the canon story but was released in North America as Metal Gear 2: Snake’s Revenge Metal Gear Solid (Nintendo 64) – this was a launch title for the Nintendo 64 and was later remade for the GameCube as The Twin Snakes.

It includes an extra level not found in the original PlayStation release. Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection (Nintendo 3DS) – this includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, all ported to the Nintendo 3DS with some new features specific to that platform. It also came with a bonus disc containing various extras.

Is Metal Gear Revengeance on the Switch?

Yes, Metal Gear Revengeance is on the Switch. It was released on October 8th, 2020.

Conclusion

The Nintendo Switch has been out for a little over a year now, and in that time, it’s managed to build up an impressive library of games. One genre that’s particularly well-represented on the console is stealth action, thanks in large part to the Metal Gear Solid franchise. While the Metal Gear Solid games have been available on a variety of platforms over the years, they’ve never really found a home on a Nintendo console.

That changed with the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on the Wii U back in 2015, and now it looks like the series is here to stay on Nintendo hardware. With Metal Gear Survive set to release later this month, and rumors swirling about a potential port of Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience coming to the Switch later this year, it’s safe to say that fans of stealth action games have plenty to be excited about when it comes to the Nintendo Switch.
